Lepidolite belongs to the Mica mineral family. This purple crystal is most often formed in igneous rocks which require late stage magma crystallization. It also needs a specific geochemical environment that contains high concentrations of lithium. This is something that doesn’t occur often which makes it a more rare crystal. In its structure it also has some aluminum bonded together with the lithium by potassium particles.
