Green Aventurine Properties

If you are looking to learn more about the properties of Green Aventurine then read on! I'll also cover what Green Aventurine looks like and a bit more on its uses.

What does Green Aventurine Look Like?

Green aventurine is ranges from a translucent and somewhat clear to nearly opaque stone that is known for its subtle glittering effect in some localities (especially Brazil). The stone is part of the Quartz family. The green Aventurine will usually be found in light to medium shades of green, but can get very dark.  It can even take on a shade of teal (my fave!).  This mineral has a grainy, flaky, and waxy feel while raw, but its appearance may also be glasslike, metallic, and can even look wet. When polished, aventurine will also range from a matte or dull polish to one with a super shine. Polishing aventurine brings out more of the stone’s natural shimmer and makes the green coloration more vibrant.

The glittery shine that can be seen within the aventurine is caused by reflective particles of chrome being trapped within the crystal. This shimmering is called aventurescence and is often used synonymously with the term “schiller effect’ by mineralogists.

Spiritually, aventurine is called the “activator of love” and is known for its ability to bring appreciation, inner harmony, and for its ability to calm a troubled spirit.  It is also a stone of optimism through a combination of courage, happiness, confidence and more.
